It is unusual for a band to be equally influenced by hard-hitting groups like He Is Legend and Diecast, as well as the epic balladry of musicals like Les Miserables and Phantom. Yet, on Ice Nine Kills' debut album, Last Chance to Make Amends (Out Now), the sound of earth-shattering double bass drums and lacerating guitar riffs on a song like Last Words, share space with ballads like Chapter Two that gently move the listener with little more than a soft piano and a clean guitar.Ice Nine Kills, The band, named after the ultimate weapon of mass destruction- the Ice Nine isotope from Kurt Vonneguts novel, Cats Cradle -will, like its namesake, awe you. The group seamlessly weaves the soaring melodies of punk rock and emo with the raw emotion and aggression of post hardcore and metal, creating in the process a refreshing sound that both soothes and knocks-over the listener.Even in their most aggressive of moments, Ice Nine Kills, unlike many bands in todays scene, does not rely on unnecessary screaming to make up for lack of depth or meaning. The whole screaming thing seems really played out these days, everyone is doing it excessively. We try to only use an aggressive vocal style when it fits the part, and when it truly intensifies the song, says Jeremy. The band provides the listener with multi textured guitar hooks, a dual vocal attack, and a pummeling rhythm section which takes the listener by the throat, and refuses to let go We try and tell our stories not only with our lyrics but with our music as well, says Jeremy, who pens the lyrics for INK. Every song I write comes from either personal experience or that of a close friend. Of course some of the stories are exaggerated, but they are all based on things that I have been through, I think thats why kids can relate to our band.THE PASTIce Nine Kills was founded by Jeremy and Spencer in 2002, in a small town on the Massachusetts coast. After several member changes, the band got lucky in the winter of 2003 when drummer Grant Newsted, a highly skilled and technical drummer from Petoskey Michigan, responded to a flier the band had posted at Berklee College of music. The line up was finalized in fall 2004 when long-time friend Hobie Boeschenstein, a skilled guitarist, took over bass and back up vocal duties.THE PRESENTThe self-produced new album explodes from the very first track Last Words, a socially relevant song that deals with the excessive pressure that many parents put on their kids to achieve unreasonable goals, and the consequences that can ensue. The band also showcases its dark sense of humor with the song, Murders and Acquisitions, a tongue-and-cheek tale of a jealous ex boyfriend who takes revenge to a level you dont want to know about, but cant help listening to. This track owes its macabre theme, no doubt, to the bands love of horror movies, which influence not only the musical expression but sometimes, the bands hair color. As energy charged as their new album is, Ice Nine Kills cannot be fully appreciated until they are seen in a live evironment. The band not only writes enthralling music, but their live show crackles with an explosive energy. Yet, with this band, energy is not an excuse for out of time, unfocused amateurism. They are always playing extremely tight and on time. I think a lot of bands these days either lack energy when they play live in order to concentrate more on playing tight, or some bands just go nuts on stage and dont play competently. With a lot of hard work, I think we have found the perfect middle ground, says Jeremy.Unlike most groups, the band members try to reply to each and every email they receive, allowing them to forge an unusually strong bond with their fans and create an incredibly loyal following. Our fans are really supportive of what we do, and we consider them as much a part of this band as we are, says Spencer.THE FUTUREIts obvious from their intensity and dedication that these boys are in this for the long haul. As Spencer said in a recent interview, Were not going to stop until every person that might enjoy our music gets a chance to hear us. There are so many great bands out there that never get discovered. We dont believe in just being lucky. We'll make our own luck.

In little more than twelve months CHVRCHES have come out of nowhere to be everywhere. There's a lot to catch up on since they posted their first song, Lies, online last May a place in the top five of the BBC Sound of 2013, sell out headline tours in the UK and US (the most recent US tour playing to almost 20,000 people over 18 shows), a triumphant, award-winning appearance at SXSW and a string of stadium dates with Depeche Mode, to name but a few.The excitement around that debut track was enhanced by the fact that there wasn't so much as a photo of the band online. Who was that facelessly contorting the legacy of electronic music into surprisingly palatable new shapes? Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty weren't being deliberately coy they were just hard at work capturing a sound that, in the tradition of all great musical alchemies, even surprised the band that made it.Lies was followed in the summer by The Mother We Share a euphoric, expertly-crafted piece of synthpop with a warm emotional centre that captured the imagination of a million listeners and saw the band step out from the shadows to put faces to the names. Both tracks, alongside bona fide singles Recover and Gun, feature on CHVRCHES' longed-for debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, out now.The album was produced by the band and recorded in Cook's Alucard Studio in Glasgow, before being mixed by Rich Costey (Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Arctic Monkeys, Sigur Ros). "To me this is an indie rock band," says Doherty. "Guitars are just replaced with keyboards we want it rough." The band's peculiar magic lies in their juxtaposition of joy and doubt these are robust, colourful pop songs whose lyrics reveal doubt and humanity, enhanced by the purity of Mayberry's voice.Cook and Doherty watched the world of electronics develop from behind more traditional instruments. Cook, who also composes for TV and film, played with the Scottish alt-rock group Aereogramme and was one half of its later incarnation The Unwinding Hours, whilst Doherty played keyboards for The Twilight Sad. Neither made music that sounded quite like this, until Mayberry then working as a music journalist while singing with Glaswegian post-rock collective Blue Sky Archives, with whom Cook had previously recorded turned up to help with a demo."I was late, I didn't know the way, it was Sunday buses, it wasn't a good start!" she recalls "And this is going to sound weird," Doherty cuts in, "but within thirty seconds of hearing her singing with us I knew this was something special. The range, the tone, the way the voice worked over the synths it was immediate. I'd heard her voice before and liked it, but I wanted to take it out of its comfort zone. Now there's a power to the vocal we never heard at first."During their recent headline tours Mayberry's voice a cut-glass, sci-fi soprano rounded off with warm Glaswegian tones has developed into a formidable force. Onstage Cook and Doherty stand behind two banks of analogue synths, linked by a controller, allowing them to access one another's machines and dovetail their bright explosions of sound. Their digital/analogue interface recalls their '80s heroes Prince and Depeche Mode but they work with the era-spanning musical know-how of Kieran Hebden and the celebratory spirit of LCD Soundsystem. The twelve songs that make up The Bones of What You Believe are linked by their humanity but Mayberry's lyrics are abstract and strangely inspirational. "With teeth we've come this far, I'll take this thing by the throat and walk away," she sings on By The Throat: everywhere, the imagery of flesh and blood, love and hope, rub up against Doherty and Cook's aggressive synth fills and spluttering fanfares. On You Caught The Light, Doherty takes lead vocals and Cook's guitar is reminiscent of Simple Minds or The Cure an indie-rock yearning in an electronic world. Science and Visions ("a kind of sci-fi stalker story," Mayberry laughs) sets her choirboy voice on a dark and ominous techno soundscape; on Lungs the sweetest melody gets an attack of crunchy bass and guitar. "That sweet and sour contrast is the key," says Mayberry; adds Cook, "we pushed aggression in the production whenever there was sweetness in the vocal we all gravitate towards that balance."Above all, the album is characterised by a combination of passion and restraint, Cook and Doherty often withholding their wizardry to let the melodies speak for themselves. That subtle balance is the sound of experience three musicians who are endlessly excited by the sound they have discovered, but clearly in it for the long haul.

Leading electronic music label, Armada Music, announces two re-branded flagship labels and an entirely new label. The re-branded flagship labels are Armada Captivating and Armada Trice, with the new label named Armada Deep. The first releases from these labels will be available September 1st.
With a fresh batch of upcoming releases, these labels represent the different core concepts that are and have been a part of Armada Music.
A select number of former sub-labels will be discontinued while others will remain. The sub-label previously known as Captivating Sounds will now become Armada Captivating; TRICE Recordings is now Armada Trice; and releases from the former Electronic Elements, Black Book Audio and M Recordings will now fall under the Armada Deep sub-label.
Armada Music co-founder, CEO and head of A&R, Maykel Piron, said, ?I am super proud of the Armada brand. Due to the digital age we currently live in, it makes sense to operate with fewer imprints and communicate Armada in a broader way. Obviously, we will also remain focused on artist labels like, among others, Armind and ASOT, Future Sound of Egypt, Mainstage, and Aropa.?
Said Armada Deep A&R executives, Kevin de Roos and Marwen Tlili, “Releasing music in a broad range of electronic music, Armada Deep represents the deeper side of Armada Music. We bring you tracks which have proven their strengths in the underground, yet still retain crossover potential. Armada Deep will be the home for the very best deep-house music.?
Said Armada Captivating A&R executive, Joel de Vriend, “Armada Captivating will be the label where only the best deserve a place. Paying respects to the strong legacy of Armada Music and the trance genre, Armada Captivating is focused on the young talents who will bring the new sound of today and tomorrow. Names like David Gravell, MaRLo, Heatbeat and Chris Schweizer are all champions of the captivating sound.”
Said Armada Trice A&R executive, Onno van Kemenade, “For those that understand the true meaning of club/techy and progressive records, we?ve got the brand new sound of Armada Trice. Blurring the lines between sharp grooves and radio-friendly anthems, Armada Trice is all about warm sounds and melodic drops. As one of the latest additions to the house of Armada Music, the label presents you with the phattest and most outstanding tunes from new and established producers like Arston, Feenixpawl, Funkagenda, Pelari, and more.”

Well, you’ve decided to do something about your asthma. Great! However, there is so much information on the condition that may make it confusing on where to begin. Don’t worry, asthma treatment tips are here! Listed below are some tips that will help you get started and organized so that you and your doctor can effectively treat your asthma.
When you have asthma, you are more vulnerable to infections. Wash your hands as often as possible, especially before eating. If your child has asthma, teach them this habit early. By washing your hands, you can stop the spread of certain harmful bacteria that would result in a lung infection.
It is important that you know what triggers your asthma symptoms. It may be wise to keep an asthma diary so you can see a pattern of when and where your asthma attacks happen. By knowing what triggers attacks, you will know what to avoid or stay away from as much as possible.
A good tip that can help you if your child has asthma is to do everything you can to educate your child about asthma. Young children have no idea what asthma is or how it affects them, so it’s your job to inform them and to help them work through it.
People that have asthma are often known to have allergies that can trigger your symptoms. Make sure you know what you are allergic to so that you can learn to stay away from the things that can hurt you. An allergist is the best one to give you a broad allergy test.
Your doctor may thing that corticosteroids are the best relief from your asthma attacks. This is especially true if you have really bad attacks. They may be a little harder to diagnose but can be swallowed or injected in the case of an attack to open up your passages more effectively.
When you have asthma, you should always be under a doctors care. You will probably be prescribed medicine that should make it easier for you to breath. If you find that your medicine is not working well, you need to contact your doctor as soon as you can, and they can find a different drug that will help you.
Leukotriene inhibitors are a very popular treatment for people that have asthma. This type of medication will work to stop chemical substances that can cause an asthma attack. It is very important that if you are prescribed these, you make sure to take it exactly how your doctor tells you to.
When dealing with asthma, you should limit your contact with animals. Many people who have asthma also have an allergy to pets. Even if you do not have an allergy to pets, pets can carry trigger substances, such as dirt, in their fur. These substances could cause an attack without you being allergic to pets.
If you are being treated for asthma and you find that your medication is not working, it is important that you talk with your doctor. The medication that you are taking may work for others, but it may not work for you. Your doctor may want to even add another medication to your treatment.
If you have children with asthma, complete a regular inspection of your home. The most common triggers of asthma attacks in children are dust, mold and other harmful spores in the air. Checking your home once a year for these air pollutants is an effective way to prevent and treat your child’s asthma attacks.
If you suffer from asthma and you have carpet in your home, you may want to consider getting rid of it and replacing it with hardwood floors. Carpets tend to collect dust and other unhealthy materials that can trigger asthma symptoms and attacks. If you do keep your carpet, be sure to vacuum it often.
Try to avoid sugary drinks such as soda if you have asthma. The additives that these drinks contain can trigger your asthma symptoms. Also, try not to eat too many candies or other foods with high sugar content. There are many alternatives that taste just as good as the original.
Keep your family engaged in your treatment and care by ensuring they understand how your disease affects your life. When you have support from your family, making changes that benefit you are much easier. Likewise, with help from your family, the treatments and steps that you take to prevent asthma attacks, will be much easier to implement.
If you or a family member suffers from severe asthma, get a recommendation from your doctor on which hospital to visit before you go on vacation. You don’t want to be hunting for a qualified hospital in the midst of an attack. Knowing in advance what doctors are good and how to get to them can cut down on the stress of the situation.
Keep your windows closed and run an air conditioner in the spring and summer instead. While it is better for the environment to open a window, the pollen from outside will drift inside and can trigger seasonal allergies and asthma attacks. The air conditioner will also help control the humidity inside the house.
Minimize the time you spend outdoors during the humid seasons to avoid asthma problems. If you have asthma difficulties, the most humid part of the year is also most likely the most aggravating one. Damp air is in itself bad for asthma sufferers, and it also tends to bring allergens and other irritants with it. Staying indoors whenever possible will keep you away from these threats.
If you have a child who suffers from asthma, make sure that you educate him about asthma and why following his treatment plans are so important. You should not only discuss what to do when he suffers an attack, you should also act out the steps. This will help your child to stay calm during an attack. Make sure that you also educate caregivers and siblings.
You should feel better after reading these tips when it comes to treating your asthma. You should also have an idea of what to do and where to begin with treating your asthma symptoms. You can always ask your doctor if you have any questions.
